About Me

My name is Marshall Bahen, born and raised in Toronto, Canada. I am committed to developing my expertise in engineering as I work towards my Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. I am especially interested in developing my skills and experience in computer aided design, robotics, automation, and additive manufacturing. I bring a strong technical and hands on approach and can leverage my aviation, robotics, and automation experience to bring a unique perspective to all my work.

I am currently working on the McMaster Solar Car Project where I am developing my proficiency in Solidworks, and Carbon Fiber manufacturing processes, and the McMaster Mars Rover Team where I am an electro-mechanical designer assisting with the design of the battery subsystem and enclosures for Motor Encoder PCBs.

In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors and spending time with my Golden Retriever.

Responsible for designing mechanisms and subsystems of large packaging machinery projects.
Utilizing knowledge of available manufacturing processes and resources to optimize designs.
Coordinating with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop, test, and improve R&D projects.
Detail and release full design packages including BOM, detail drawings, assembly drawings, and layouts.
Modify and update existing assemblies, parts, and drawings.

Lead Commissioning Technician (COOP)

May 2022 to August 2022

KUKA Robotics Canada

Commissioning of specialized arc welding, resistance spot welding, and polishing cells. Applied Customer Specific project configurations, IO mapping, and interfaces to establish communications and complete test welds on a variety of equipment types.
Commissioning and testing of mobile robots and collaborative robots including LBR iiwa, KUKA Mobile Platform KMP1500-3 and KMP200. Including basic programming in Java, as well as troubleshooting software, firmware, and hardware.
Worked with certification authorities (UL, cTUVus, ESA) to ensure all electrical equipment was certified for use in Canada.
Developed training manuals and trained team members on commissioning, electrical servicing and mechanical servicing.
Managed scheduling of multiple customer projects and resources to complete complex commissioning projects on time.
Worked with Order Management, Sales, and Application Engineers to ensure projects were technically possible and completed within customer requirements.
Programming, testing, teaching paths, and calibrating robot cells, tools, and bases.
Troubleshooting and rectifying electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and software faults.
Designed, sourced, and manufactured custom welding energy supplies, and cabinet reconfigurations
Wiring medium and low voltage AC and DC systems according to industry standards and electrical schematics.
Intensive use of KUKA.WorkVisual, KUKA.Sunrise Workbench, embedded Windows operating systems, KUKA Option Packages, as well as programming in KUKA Robot Language (KRL).

Commissioning Technician
November 2020 to August 2021

Performed maintenance, inspections, overhauls, servicing, troubleshooting, and rectification of faults and defects found, in accordance with airworthiness directives, maintenance manuals and Canadian Aviation Regulation and Standards.
Performed static and dynamic balancing of main rotor blades, short shaft, and tail rotor blades.
Performed inspections and maintenance on Bell 206B3, Bell 205A-1+, Airbus AS350 BA, and SA365 N1.
Completed 100/150/300/500-hour inspections on BH 206 B2/B3 and AS350 BA/B1.
Assisted with a 2-year inspection on an SA 365 N1, and a 144-month inspection on an AS 350 BA.
